As an industry, we can t forget or lose sight of the accomplishments and knowledge compiled by industry giants like Carl Dahlquist and others, he says. As one of those industry giants, Johnston has much in the way of accomplishments and knowledge to share. 

Nomenclature is the compilation of descriptions of things and technical terms in a special field of knowledge, the vocabulary ofa technical language. In the history of chemistry, a systematic nomenclature became significant only rather late. In the early times of alchemy, the properties of the substance or its appearance played a major role in giving a compound a name. Libavius was the first person who tried to fix some kind of nomenclature in Alckeinia in 1,597. In essence, he gave names to chemical equipment and processes (methods, names that are often still valid in our times. 

A large number of substances are ionisable in aqueous solutions and a knowledge of their ionisation constants, stated as pK (pKa) values, can be of importance not only in their purification but also in their reactivity. Literature values of the pK s have been inserted for ionisable substances, and where values could not be found they were estimated (pKesi)- The estimates are usually so close to the true values as not to affect the purification process or the reactivity seriously. The book will thus be a good compilation of pK values for ionisable substances. 

Barring the inaccessibility of truly classified information. Current Topics in Elastomers Research is a complete review of the current state-of-the-science of elastomers research and applications, compiling once-guarded knowledge and outlining the future directions of the field.

To our knowledge, no thematic volumes devoted solely to metal-catalyzed reductive C-C bond formation have been assembled. For the first time, in this issue of Topics in Current Chemistry, we present a compilation of monographs from several leaders in this burgeoning area of research. This collection of reviews serves to capture the diversity of catalytic reductive C-C couplings presently available and, in turn, the remarkable range of reactivity embodied by such transformations. There is no indication that this field has reached its zenith and it is the hope of the present author that this volume will fuel further progress. 

The broad survey of the animal and plant world provided by Aristotle about 2,400 years ago included only a tiny fraction of all extant life forms. However, his compilation formed the basis of our knowledge of living things until the Middle Ages ...
