Kinetic leakage

Kinetic Leakage If the anion resin is fouled in some way, for example with organics, the kinetics of exchange are impeded and detailed studies have demonstrated that the normal equilibrium selectivity of sulfate over chloride is violated leading to the preferential slip of the kinetically slower diffusing sulfate ion. 

One of the most important parameters of an immobilized-carrier complex is stability of its activity. Catalytic activity of the complex diminishes with time because of leakage, desorption, deactivation, and the like. The half-life of the complex is often used to describe the activity stabihty. Even though there may be frequent exceptions, hn-ear decay is often assumed in treating the kinetics of activity decay of an immobilized complex. 

As particle size decreases, hydrogen leakage decreases and hot spot temperature in the bed is higher. Thus the smaller particle size has greater activity (see Table VI). A kinetic system which defines the reaction in terms of CO and C02 methanation and CO shift conversion was used to determine the activity (see last column of Table VI). 

Satisfactory agreement of experiments with kinetic laws, described by Eqs. (44) and (45), are observed only for tantalum and niobium, when the current efficiency approaches 100%. Even for these metals, certain deviations occur which could be attributed to space charge effects,82 electronic leakage currents,83 or other factors. In the case of aluminum, these deviations are relatively large, as, even in barrier-forming electrolytes, some oxide dissolution takes place from the very beginning of voltage supply to an anodized sample.32...
