Water-soluble hyperbranched PEAs are nowadays developed for different applications such as paper coatings, kinetic hydrate inhibitors (KHIs) for the oil and gas industry, and biology and medicine devices. The last apphcations require a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) around physiological conditions, whereas high LCST values may be useful as KHIs. KeUand [50] has recently demonstrated that PEAs based on a cychc anhydride and diisopropanolamine can be effectively tuned by varying the hydrophobicity of the cyclic anhydride or by the addition of a less hydrophilic secondary amine (i.e., without hydroxyl groups). 

A novel teehnique has been developed for determining the concentration of hydrate inhibitors in the aqueous phase and monitoring the hydrate safety margin. By measuring the electrical conductivity and acoustic velocity, the developed C-V prototype device can determine the concentrations of thermodynamic hydrate inhibitors, kinetic hydrate inhibitors, and salts. Integrating with a thermodynamic model, it ean also determine the hydrate stabihty zone hence the hydrate safety margin if the hydrocarbon composition and the operating conditions are known. Analyses of the field chemicals in the pipelines are done to check if proper amount is added to the pipeline and what is left as residual amount. This paper evaluates analytical methodology for corrosion inhibitors (Cl) and kinetic hydrate inhibitors (KHI) analyses and addresses interferences, sensitivity, and selectivity of the selected methods. [l]The Cl and KHI blends are obtained from one vendor. The same vendor provided the methods for the determination of these chemicals. These blends are used in Qatar at one of the fields where the produced water samples were collected to evaluate the validity of the methods.
