Larger changes in bond lengths, as expected, are observed for more localized carbocations. Most of the structures available are for stabilized systems, such as protonated carbonyl compounds [e.g. the protonated cyclopropyl ketones referred to on page 110 (Childs et al., 1990), and dioxacarbocations (Paulsen and Dammeyer, 1973, 1976 Paulsen and Schuttpelz, 1979 Childs et al., 1986, 1991). It is normal to see one of the atoms of the counterion (in most cases MXJ or MX ) packing in the position expected for addition to the activated C=OH(R)+ system, apparently just within the sum of the van der Waals radii for the neutral centres (Childs et al., 1986). This can happen without significant pyramida-lization, however (Childs et al., 1991), and on both sides of the planar carbon centre it tells us little new about reactivity. [Pg.163]

For reactions of chiral organomagnesium compounds with achiral ketones, references already cited in connection with aldehydes (e.g. Ref. [45]) are relevant. [Pg.123]

Although somewhat misleading, the term P-silyl ketone refers to the isomer in which the silyl group is attached to the carbon adjacent to the carbonyl. The term a-silyl ketone and acylsilane have been used interchangeably to indicate attachment of the silane and carbonyl carbon. [Pg.456]

The Gribble reduction of diaryl ketones refers to the sodium borohydride-trifluoroacetic acid (NaBHVTFA) reduction of diaryl ketones (1) to diarylmethanes (2).1 The reaction is very general and is applicable to the reduction of diarylmethanols (3) and triarylmethanols (4) to the respective diarylmethanes (2) and triarylmethanes (5).2... [Pg.93]

Acetylbenzene, methyl phenyl ketone Reference codes... [Pg.159]

Hypalon has poor resistance to aliphatic, aromatic, and chlorinated hydrocarbons, aldehydes, and ketones. Refer to Table 5.12 for the compatibility of Hypalon with selected corrodents. [Pg.479]

The cyclitols are resistant to oxidation with dilute nitric acid, but with concentrated acid, depending on the conditions, a variety of products may be obtained ranging from carbon dioxide to cyclic ketones. Reference will be made here, as well as in subsequent sections, to those instances in which the ring has remained intact or in which it has been opened and compounds retaining all the original carbons have been isolated. [Pg.290]
