Journal presentations

Each chapter of this book explores one of these frontiers. Reports published in journals, presented at conferences, and described in press releases illustrate the kind of research problems of interest in chemistry and how scientists attempt to solve them. This book summarizes a selection of these reports—unfortunately there is room for only a fraction of them—that offers students and other readers insight into the methods and applications of chemistry. [Pg.231]

Polymer adsorption has been reviewed by many authors28-37. An earlier volume of this journal presented an article which dealt with polymer adsorption studies made before 196429. This paper gives a review of subsequent advances in this field of study. In Chap. B, the principal theories are described, confining ourselves to those which are amenable to experimental teste. Chapter C gives a brief survey of typical measuring techniques. In Chap. D, important experimental data on the thickness of the adsorbed polymer layer and the fraction of adsorbed segments are summarized and discussed, along with their comparison with relevant theories. [Pg.4]

The chemistry community, like other scientific communities, depends on the communication of scientific results. Scientists communicate in a variety of ways, but much of the communication is through publication in books and journals. In this chapter, the different types of book and journal presentations are described, along with the components of the standard format for reporting original research. [Pg.17]

Consideration must also be given to the fact that there is not enough space available in the regular journals for the publication of all government reports. If all government reports were prepared for and submitted for publication in the journals presently available, the results would be catastrophic. As it is, most of these journals have built up a backlog of the material presently channeled to them. [Pg.152]

Journal of Phase Equilibria and Diffusion — This journal presents critically evaluated phase diagrams and related data on alloy systems. It is published by ASM International and is the successor to the previous ASM periodical Bulletin of Alloy Phase Diagrams, [www.asm-ind.org]... [Pg.2536]

Journal of Environmental Engineering (0733-9372) (1943-7870). This journal presents broad interdisciplinary information on the practice and status of research in environmental engineering science, systems engineering, and sanitation. Contributors include consultants, practicing engineers, and researchers. [Pg.301]
