Jordan, Hamilton

The Linear Algebraic Problem.—Familiarity with the basic theory of finite vectors and matrices—the notions of rank and linear dependence, the Cayley-Hamilton theorem, the Jordan normal form, orthogonality, and related principles—will be presupposed. In this section and the next, matrices will generally be represented by capital letters, column vectors by lower case English letters, scalars, except for indices and dimensions, by lower case Greek letters. Dr. Peter Bourne. Bourne prescribed Quaaludes for an associate and to protect her identity used a phony name for her. Bourne was forced to resign. No sooner had the dust settled than Hamilton Jordan, Carter s chief of staff, was charged with having snorted cocaine at a NORML party during the presidential campaign. This case dragged on and on. The Carter administration s early intention to decriminalize marijuana faded.

The Adare Peninsula was first visited by Carsten Borchgrevink and his men who wintered over in two huts on Ridley Beach (Section 1.3). In 1911/12 the huts were used again by Scott(s Northern Party led by Victor Campbell (Section 1.4.3). The remains of these huts still stand on Ridley Beach (McIntosh and Kyle 1990b). Descriptions of the geology of the Adare Peninsula and of the petrology of the volcanic rocks were published by Harrington et al. (1967), Hamilton (1967,1972), Jordan (1981), and by LeMasuiier et al. (1983).
