Joining mechanisms

UML does not define multiple specifications for an operation. Catalysis permits two forms of combining multiple specifications a conformant anding of the specs, for use with subtyping and the join mechanism, in which one spec can impose additional preconditions to those defined in another view.

Fork and Join In UNIX, any process may duplicate using a fork mechanism provided by the operating system. This creates two processes called the parent and the child the parent is the original process. The join mechanism is realized by the parent process waiting for all child processes to complete execution. See the manual (man) page for fork () on any UNIX workstation or References 37—39.

The assembly of k variable regions seems to involve an inversion joining mechanism (see Section 2.2.). These high-temperature thermoplastic materials are generally joined mechanically or with adhesives. The high modulus, low creep strength, and superior fatigue resistance make these materials ideal for snap-fit joints.

The second design step addresses electrical continuity and the use of insulating flanges. These parameters will essentially define the structural area of influence of the CP system. To ensure protection over different structural sections that are joined mechanically, electrical bonding is required. In complex structures, insulated flanges can restrict the spread of the CP influence.
