Autoxidation. Potassium t-butoxide is an excellent catalyst for the autoxidation of ketones and esters to a-hydroperoxides. Thus when air is bubbled into a suspension of the solid alkoxide in a solution of methyl isopropyl ketone in ethylene glycol dimethyl ether and t-butanol at 8°, the hydroperoxide is formed in yield of 80% by titration or 40% by isolation. [Pg.1194]
