ALCOHOLS,HIGHERALIPHATIC - SURVEY AND NATURALALCOHOLSMANUFACTURE] (Voll) Isooctyl isodecyl phthalate [42343-35-1]... [Pg.531]

Plasticizer Range Alcohols. Commercial products from the family of 6—11 carbon alcohols that make up the plasticizer range are available both as commercially pure single carbon chain materials and as complex isomeric mixtures. Commercial descriptions of plasticizer range alcohols are rather confusing, but in general a commercially pure material is called "-anol," and the mixtures are called "-yl alcohol" or "iso...yl alcohol." For example, 2-ethyIhexanol [104-76-7] and 4-methyl-2-pentanol [108-11-2] are single materials whereas isooctyl alcohol [68526-83-0] is a complex mixture of branched hexanols and heptanols. Another commercial product contains linear alcohols of mixed 6-, 8-, and 10-carbon chains. [Pg.440]

Polygas Olefins. Refinery propylene and butenes are polymerized with a phosphoric acid catalyst at 200°C and 3040—6080 kPa (30—60 atm) to give a mixture of branched olefins up to used primarily in producing plasticizer alcohols (isooctyl, isononyl, and isodecyl alcohol). Since the olefins are branched (75% have two or more CH groups) the alcohols are also branched. Exxon, BASE, Ruhrchemie (now Hoechst), ICl, Nissan, Getty Oil, U.S. Steel Chemicals (now Aristech), and others have all used this olefin source. [Pg.458]

Commercial Stabilizers. The performance of the antimony stabilizers is significantly enhanced by adding polyhydroxybenzene compounds, eg, catechol, to the PVC (36). In commercial practice, about 5—10% catechol is formulated with the antimony mercaptide stabilizer products. The antimony mercaptides are normally prepared by heating antimony oxide with the appropriate mercaptan, normally isooctyl thioglycolate, under conditions to remove water. [Pg.552]

The Hquid antimony tris(isooctyl thioglycolate) is then treated with the required additives to prepare the commercial products. [Pg.552]

Mercaptides are unchallenged as the ligand of choice for the other entities bonded to the tin, but carboxylates can also be used. Whereas a variety of mercaptans are used, the thioglycolic acid derivatives remain the largest single mercaptan. Dibutyltin bis(isooctyl thioglycolate) [25168-24-5] and butyltin tris(isooctyl thioglycolate) [25852-70A] are two common examples. These materials are produced by the reaction of the appropriate alkyl tin chloride or oxide, and the mercaptan. [Pg.6]

In Germany, the following monoorganotins alone or in mixtures are also approved for this use butylthiostannoic acid anhydride with either dioctyltin compounds or 2-carbobutoxyethyltin compounds, 2-carbobutoxyethyltin tris(isooctylmercaptoacetate) alone or mixed with its dicounterpart, monomethyltin tris(isooctylmercaptoacetate) [56225-49-1] plus its dicounterpart in a 24 76 wt % ratio, and monooctyl tin tris [alkyl (C q—isooctyl) mercaptoacid esters] with thek dicounterparts. [Pg.75]

Heptenes. Heptenes, are used for the preparation of isooctyl alcohol [26952-21-6] by hydroformylation (see Oxo process). The heptenes... [Pg.372]
