Irritant vapours

Liquid oxygen is pale blue, slightly heavier than water, magnetic, non-flammable and does not produce toxic or irritating vapours. On contact with reducing agents, liquid oxygen can cause explosions. [Pg.259]

Ventilate the area well (for at least 10 min) to reduce irritant vapours and biological aerosols, and to evaporate remaining liquid (bear in mind that ventilation may transfer the danger to other parts of the premises)... [Pg.295]

Action of heat When benzoic acid is heated in an ignition tube, it melts, evaporates, and condenses in the cool parts of the tube. An irritating vapour is simultaneously evolved, but no charring occurs. If a little of the acid or of one of its salts is heated upon platinum foil or broken porcelain it bums with a blue, smoky flame (distinction from succinate). [Pg.378]

Action of heat When succinic acid or its salts are strongly heated in an ignition tube, a white sublimate of succinic anhydride, C4H403, is formed and irritating vapours are evolved. If the ignition is carried out on platinum foil or upon broken porcelain, the vapour burns with a non-luminous, blue flame, leaving a residue of carbon (distinction from benzoate). [Pg.379]

Irritant vapours, to be inhaled, have an analeptic effect in fainting, especially if it is psychogenic, e.g. aromatic solution of ammonia (Sal Volatile). No doubt they sometimes recall the exorbitant and deserting spirits to their proper stations. ... [Pg.552]

Iodine trichloride [865-44-1] M 233.3, m 33", b 77"(dec). Purify ICI3 by sublimation at room temperature. Irritant vapours. [Booth Morris Inorg Synth I 167 7959.]... [Pg.472]

Flammable colourless liquid gives vinegar its characteristic smell. Irritant vapour eyes and respiratory tract. Can be fatal on ingestion. 25 mg/m3 conjunctivitis. 60 mg/m3 extreme eye and nose irritation 125 mg/m3 intolerable. [Pg.664]

Heavy dark red liquid, vapour pressure at 20°C 172 mmHg, bp 59°C. Limited use as a war gas used with chlorine to increase persistence in WWI. Irritating vapour, eye irritant. Fatal at 220 mg/m3 for 30-60 min. [Pg.670]

It is a basal anaesthetic agent of choice which is administered through rectum in the form of its solution. The main advantage of such an anaesthesia being its pleasant induction amalgamated with lack of irritating vapours. [Pg.117]

Characters.—Clear colourless fluid, oily to the touch. Sp. gr. 1 25. Slight odour sweet taste freely soluble in water and in alcohol. Strongly heated, it decomposes and evolves intensely irritating vapours (acrolein, C3H4O). [Pg.106]

Dibromodifluoromethane, a highly volatile liquid with irritating vapours. [Pg.159]

Phosphorus pentachloride are fuming crystals emitting irritant vapour and dust. Highly caustic and violently reacts with water. Pentafluoride and pentabromide are also unpleasant. [Pg.1370]

Cyclic trimer and tetramer halides emit irritant vapours which cause eye discomfort, headache and sickness. Other low molecular weight halophosphazenes should also be treated as potentially toxic. [Pg.1370]
