Molding of parts for a wide variety7 of plumbing and irrigation applications consumes as much acetal resin as the industrial applications. Rod and slab stock can be machined into components for precision flow control devices. [Pg.60]

Prolonged irrigation, application with a conjunctival pledget, or subconjimctiv injection of the 10% solution is not recommended. [Pg.117]

Some other types of application equipment do not fit into the common categories. They include wiper applicators, irrigation application equipment, and wax bars. [Pg.355]

For some water reuse applications, activated carbon may be employed to adsorb 90 to 98% of any residual degradation-resistant organics when necessary. The resultant effluent quality is adequate for many industrial coolant or irrigation applications. After minimal further treatment, such as by reaeration and chlorination, it could even be reused for potable purposes in an emergency [55]. However, not enough is known about the potential for accumulation of trace toxins to recommend this procedure for long-term potable water use. [Pg.160]

As a result, 3-5 times as much aldicarb leached below two meters with irrigation. Applications at potato emergence decreased the amount to leach by about one-half as compared to earlier applications at planting. The reasons for this are two-fold avoidance of some spring rain for later applications, and a more rapid rate of decay for later applications. [Pg.364]

A) Surface irrigation. Application of irrigation water by flooding the soil surface is the most widely used method in spite of the associated adverse effects caused to the land. Surface irrigation is the application of water to the soil by allowing the water to flow over the soil surface. Efficient surface irrigation requires... [Pg.117]

The term three-phase fluidization requires some explanation, as it can be used to describe a variety of rather different operations. The three phases are gas, liquid and particulate solids, although other variations such as two immiscible liquids and particulate solids may exist in special applications. As in the case of a fixed-bed operation, both co-current and counter- current gas-liquid flow are permissible and, for each of these, both bubble flow, in which the liquid is the continuous phase and the gas dispersed, and trickle flow, in which the gas forms a continuous phase and the liquid is more or less dispersed, takes place. A well established device for countercurrent trickle flow, in which low-density solid spheres are fluidized by an upward current of gas and irrigated by a downward flow of liquid, is variously known as the turbulent bed, mobile bed and fluidized packing contactor, or the turbulent contact absorber when it is specifically used for gas absorption and/or dust removal. Still another variation is a three-phase spouted bed contactor. [Pg.486]

Pipe used for low-pressure applications such as transporting air, steam, gas, water, oil, etc. Employed in machinery, buildings, sprinkler and irrigation systems, and water wells but not in utility distribution systems can transport fluids at elevated temperatures and pressures not subjected to external heat applications. Fabricated in standard diameters and wall thicknesses to ASTM specifications, its diameters range from Vs to 42 in. o.d. [Pg.140]

The failure in employing PAAm hydrogel (free swelling 1250 ml g 1) in the sandy soil of the Kara Kum desert is due to the same reasons [132] swelling in rainwater and in saline water from the Large Kara Kum canal used for irrigation purposes was equal to 680 and 255 mlg-1 in the free state and respectively 112 and 76 ml g 1 in the sand. This situation proved to be unacceptable for any SAH application. [Pg.127]
