Ipecac syrup contraindications

Basic and advanced life-support measures should be utilized as necessary. Decontamination with syrup of ipecac is contraindicated due to the likelihood for developing rapid onset seizures. Gastric decontamination with activated charcoal may be considered for substantial recent ingestions. Fluid and electrolytes need to be frequently monitored and replaced as necessary. [Pg.1526]
