Investment profile importance

A key point in the application of rapid sensory proflling methods is that they do not require an important initial investment, since there is no need to train and to maintain a panel. There is thus no need to mobilize substantial resources to run a sensory profile (except when a large consumer sample is to be recruited). In a way, those methods thus democratize access to sensory information. 

When only conventional profihng methods are available, setting up a descriptive panel implies an important investment (in time and money). It is thus determinative to make the right choice and to determine what the best method is for the company or for research purposes. Once the choice of a conventional profiling method is made, there is indeed a difficult way back. The method may then be applied routinely without wondering for each evaluation if the method best addresses one s needs. 

Similarly, the Risk Profile represents the namre of the risk exposure that the organisation is prepared to endure. It is important to recognise that this profile comprises a portfolio of different risks which are hnked to the portfolio of projects/activities/investments represented by the performance profile.
