Investments in the CCEE drug industry have come from multinational companies as well as from companies in the CCEE themselves, particularly Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland and the Eederal Republic of Yugoslavia. Domestic manufacturers produce basically generics, which mostly comprise off-patent drugs. Their traditional export market to the Newly Independent States has been in decline. Productivity, compliance with GMP standards and the implementation of patent protection will be key issues for the CCEE industry over the coming years. [Pg.130]

Ltd., is reported to be Asia s fifth largest company and the world s major manufacturer of flat LCD and plasma screens and memory chips with 12 production plants in 12 countries. The company is reported to be seeking a site in Wroclaw, Poland to build refrigerators and possibly LCD monitors. Other reported planned investments include a joint venture with fellow South Korean company, LG Electronics, to invest almost 150 million to make LCD components at the Central Taiwan Science Park. [Pg.99]

Poland is one of the moderate innovators with a below average performance. The strengths of the country include human resources, finance and support, investment companies and economic effects. Weaknesses are primarily quality of research systems, linkages entrepreneurship, intellectual value and resource of innovators (INNO—Metrics, 2012). [Pg.122]
