In Latin America SBEB is affiliated to CORAL-Regional Council for Latin America in Biomedical Engineering. SBEB is also affiliated to IFMBE-International Federation of Medical and Biological Engineering, which is the maximum representative of Biomedical Engineering in the world. 

Internationally, the BEAI is the Irish representative body for the International Federation of Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) (www.ifmbe.org) Organisation. The Secretary of the BEAI attends the secretarial meetings of the IFMBE representing the interests of the Association at these meetings. The IFMBE recently endorsed the 2008 Annual Scientific Meeting of the BEAI.

The CSBME and its Sub-society on Medical Physics (CSMP) have become members of the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) and the International Organization of Medical Physics (lOMP), respectively since 1986. Also, some members of the CSBME are the personal members of International Society of Artificial Organs (ISAO). 

In 2008, the Society had over 60 active members, and more than 30 BME specialists and students who cooperated with the Society on an informal basis. Currently, most of the members are from universities and research institutions, some of whom are clinical engineers and practising medical doctors. The Society is the official representative of the Slovak biomedical engineering and medical informatics community in the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) and International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA).
