It is unreasonable to integrate digitally over all frequencies, so an approximation must be made by choosing the limits. Fortunately, if this approximation is consistently implemented, the ratio of individual integrals within a spectrum will remain constant. Table 1 shows how the limits can be chosen as a function of peak width to obtain various accuracies for a Lorentzian line.
