Integrated recovery programs

Program capabilities are fully integrated into the organization. If a key person leaves, organizational recovery is a function of being understaffed, not underskilled. 

Although it is desirable to attain recoveries as close to 100% as possible in order to maximize the efficiency of the method, it may be equally desirable intentionally to sacrifice high recovery in order to achieve better selectivity with some sample preparation procedures. It is unlikely that recoveries at around 50% will compromise the integrity of a method that has adequate selectivity and, hence, good precision. Acceptable recovery data as a function of analyte concentration have been suggested (11) by the AOAC peer-verified methods program (Table 25.1). 

For foodstuff matrices, the use of PFA labware and H2O2 reagent improved the conventional analytical parameters (LoDs, level of blanks, stability, recovery rate, and also the speed of analyses. The quantification of lead at low concentration was possible down to 9 pig kg-1, whereas in the recent past the LoD in the same laboratory was at about 35 pig kg-1, thus making participation in the previous FAPAS S7R40 PT impossible. Thanks to the improved procedure, more parameters of quality control could be integrated in the program, that is, recovery rate is calculated for each run of sample and this without lengthening analysis time. 

Biodefense in the 2ist Century is a White House directive that integrates the sustained efforts of the national and homeland security, medical, public health, intelligence, diplomatic, and law enforcement communities. The four pillars of the biodefense program as described are threat awareness, prevention and protection, surveillance and detection, and response and recovery. The latter two pillars speak to the need for improved capabilities in the areas of surveillance, specifically detection and diagnostics, as well as medical countermeasures development and decontamination. 

Consider Bharti Tele-Ventures, the largest private telephone company in India. It recently outsourced and integrated its core functions - such as network and program management, help desk support, disaster recovery, IT, and billing - which freed it to focus exclusively on marketing and customer service strategies. As a result, Bharti tripled its subscriber base - from six to 18 million subscribers - in just 20 months. 

Derive the streamfunction for the pressure given in Equation 5-107. Write a computer program to calculate pressures and streamfunctions for general (x,y). Integrate the output of this program with commercial contour plotting software to produce capabilities useful in enharrced oil recovery.
