Inlet distributor, restriction

Pilots and Igniters - Two gas-fired pilots with igniters are installed adjacent to the inlet distributor. The igniter assembly and pilot gas valves must be located remote from the flare for protection of personnel and equipment. This restricts igniter selection to the forced air supply type. Location of these components should be such that the calculated radiant heat density at maximum load does not exceed permissible levels for personnel exposure. Because of the potential hazard of release of unignited hydrocarbons at ground level, a flame scanner (suitably shielded and aircooled and cotmected to an alarm in the control house), is provided for each pilot. [Pg.267]

Liquid inlets. Liquid enters the top tray via a hole in the column shell, often discharging against a vertical baffle or weir, or via a short, down-bending pipe (Fig. 17), or via a distributor. Restriction, excessive liquid velocities, and interference with tray action must be avoided, as these may lead to excessive entrainment, premature flooding, and even structural damage. Disperser units (e.g., perforations, values) must be absent in the liquid entrance area (Fig. 17) or excessive weeping may result. [Pg.25]

Gas Distrihutor The gas distributor has a considerable effect on proper operation of the flmdized bed. Basically there are two types (1) For use when the inlet gas contains solids and (2) for use when the inlet gas is clean. In the latter case, the distributor is designed to prevent Back flow of sohds during normal operation, and in many cases it is designed to prevent back flow during shutdown. In order to provide distribution, it is necessary to restrict the gas or gas and solids flow so that pressure drops across the restriction amount to from 0.5 kPa (2 in of water) to 20 kPa (3 Ibf/iu ). [Pg.1564]
