Injection molded impact polypropylene

Characterization of Injection-Molded Impact Polypropylene Blends... [Pg.479]

Polypropylene has a large presence in cars and other vehicles. For the most part, impact copolymers predominate. One of the original uses was in battery cases in this application, which goes back more than 25 years, injection molded impact copolymer, colored black, replaced black hard rubber. Now, cases of other colors, and of natural translucent material are the norm. Another long-standing use of PP in a car has been for heat and air conditioning ducts, which are mostly unseen. Fan blades of various types are produced from filled (usually with talc) PP. With the need to reduce the weight of cars, many components went from... [Pg.36]

Polypropylene is extensively used in injection molding because of the wide range of physical properties and melt flow rates available. The principal markets served include transportation (primarily automotive), appliances, consumer products, rigid packaging, and medical products. Polypropylene use has increased in the automotive industry because of the wide availability of high melt flow rate impact copolymers for use in large thin parts, such as interior trim. [Pg.1147]

Reinforced thermoset (RTS) plastic B-stage sheet material can be processed with its required heating cycle. However the most popular is to use reinforced thermoplastic (RTP) sheets usually using polypropylene plastics. Compared to injection molding RTPs, these stamped products can provide improved mechanical and physical properties with its longer fibers such as impact strength, heat distortion temperature, and much less anisotropy. [Pg.490]

Products A wide range of polypropylene products (homopolymer, random copolymer and impact copolymer) can be produced to serve many applications, including injection molding, blow molding, thermoforming, film, extrusion, sheet and fiber. Impact copolymer produced using this process exhibits a superior balance of stiffness and impact resistance over a broad temperature range. [Pg.162]

Impact modified polypropylene is used for injection molding automotive, consumer and appliance parts. For example, the medium impact PP is widely used for automotive interior trim. High impact PP is used for battery cases, fender and truck liners. Impact PP is also used extensively in the houseware and appliance markets. [Pg.1036]
