Boiling point initial

The fractional distillation test conducted in the laboratory involves measuring the temperature of the distilled vapor at the initial boiling point (IBP), as volume percent fractions 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 95 are collected, and at the end point (EP). Three ASTM methods are currently used to measure boiling points D-86, D-1160, and D-2887. [Pg.47]

Distillation range the difference between the temperatnre at the initial boiling point and at the endpoint, as obtained by the distillation test. [Pg.328]

The naphtha processed by a gasoline Molex unit typically has a Enger distillation (D86) with an initial boiling point (IBP) of 26°C and end point (EP) of 82°C. Table 8.3 lists the typical components found in naphtha with their corresponding calculated research octane numbers (RON) and shows why nCs and nCc are undesirable in a gasoline pool due to their low RON value [8]. [Pg.259]

Fractional distillation characterizes the initial boiling point, volume % of materials boiling at specified temperature ranges, end point, residue, and loss. A procedure termed 15 5 distillation is frequently used to assist in crude oil characterization. This procedure utilizes a column possessing the equivalent of 15 theoretical plates and a reflux ratio of 5 1. [Pg.31]

Ignites easily and safely The flash point, initial boiling point, and viscosity values affect ignitability. If the values are too high, the fuel may not ignite readily. [Pg.65]

A reduction in both the initial boiling point and end point of a fuel can result in a lowering of viscosity. Accompanying a reduction in these distillation parameters is a consequential increase in the concentration of lower-molecular-weight and often, more volatile compounds. [Pg.114]

If the temperature rises much above the initial boiling point, the yield of red product increases at the expense of resacetophenone formation. The boiling point also may vary slightly. [Pg.104]
