Influence of calcium

The aim of the investigation was to study the influence of calcium and sodium ions, pectin containing extracts of aromatic vegetative raw materials and mumio on the carbopol gelation to develop the procedure of calcium and sodium ions mass part determination in extracts of aromatic vegetative pectin containing raw materials to establish the macro- and microelement composition of mumio. [Pg.375]

The exceptionally strong influence of calcium-ions on pectin solutions especially made with HM citrus pectins can be shown by a frequency sweep. The addition of calcium leads to an increase of the complex viscosity. Additionally we can observe a stable trapping of air bubbles in the solution. This effect can not be caused by the increase of viscosity. The frequency sweeps of the solutions give the answer. The storage modulus curves show the significant increase of the elastic shares caused by the addition of calcium-ions. [Pg.419]

The influence of calcium on the adsorption of high molecular weight EOR polymers such as flexible polyacrylamides and semi-rigid xanthans on siliceous minerals and kaolinite has been studied in the presence of different sodium concentrations. Three mechanisms explain the increase in polyacrylamide adsorption upon addition of calcium (i) reduction in electrostatic repulsion by charge screening,... [Pg.227]

Experiments examining the influence of calcium and phosphate on the reductive dissolution of manganese oxides by hydroquinone have, in fact, shown inhibition by adsorbed ions (33). As the total phosphate in solution is increased, the rate of Mn + release diminished in proportion to the phosphate surface coverage. [Pg.455]

Mibefradil is a verapamil-like agent with a potentially attractive haemodynamic profile. It is a vasodilator, which also causes a reduction in heart rate, whereas it is devoid of negative inotropic activity. Some of its properties are attributed to its influence of calcium channels of the T- and N-types. Unfortunately, the compound has been withdrawn because of multiple interactions with various other drugs. [Pg.334]

The development of a sensor for ionized magnesium turned out to be one of the most difficult challenges of recent years. Several carriers have been designed for this purpose but none have been satisfactory. The first report of a successful measurement of ionized magnesium in an automated clinical analyzer (Thermo, prev. KONE) was published only in 1990 [30]. The ionophore ETH 5520 was used as the active compound. Two other carriers have been used since then ETH 7025 (Roche, former AVL), and a derivative of 1,10-phenenthroline (Nova). All of the magnesium sensors are based on a plastic membrane. Numerical compensations of the influence of calcium ion and the ionic strength are used due to insufficient selectivity of the magnesium sensors. [Pg.16]

The strong adverse influence of calcium ions on the stability of lyophobic suspensions is predicted by DLVO theory, and has been demonstrated with many types of simple soils. That calcium ions have an overwhelming effect on the redeposition of carbon soil onto cotton tends to support the idea that DLVO theory is a principal key in explaining detersive action. The redeposition of carbon onto cotton has been correlated quantitatively with the calcium ion content of the system, both in the presence and absence of surfactant (95). The adverse effect of calcium ions on wet soil removal in practical washing has also been well established (96). The effect of calcium in detergency cannot be explained solely, however, by its shrinking of... [Pg.3142]
