Industrial project selection process

Each particular market must be analyzed to assess its particular needs, timing and other characteristics. The Federal action that is effective with one industry is not necessarily effective with another. The planning of commercialization starts with the beginning of the project and the market potential is a key factor in the project selection process. The planning of commercialization that steurts with the beginning of each project is inclusive of the commercialization actions required during development cind, ultimately, to implement the project. 

The Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS), a directorate of AIChE, was established in 1985 to develop and disseminate technical information for use in the prevention of major chemical accidents. The CCPS is supported by a diverse group of industrial sponsors in the chemical process industry and related industries who provide the necessary funding and professional guidance for its projects. The CCPS Technical Steering Committee and the technical subcommittees oversee individual projects selected by CCPS. Professional representatives of the sponsoring companies staff the subcommittees, with a member of the CCPS staff coordinating the activities of the sub-committee. 

PID controller is a flexible, effective, and rehable controller for the process industries. A considerable range of controller actions is possible by selecting tuning parameters to provide different weights to the present (proportional), the past (integral), and the projected future (derivative). QRA practitioners can use to satisfy some QRA objectives. Also, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) has sponsored a project to expand and improve the quality of component failure data for chemical industry use. And many process facilities have considerable equipment operating experience in maintenance files, operating logs, and the minds of operators and maintenance personnel. These data can be collected and combined with industrywide data to help achieve reasonable QRA objectives. However, care must be exercised to select data most representative of your specific system from the wide range available from various sources. Even data from your own plant may have to be modified (sometimes by a factor of 10 or more) to reflect your plant s current operating environment and maintenance practices. 

Over 50 corporations from all segments of the chemical process industries (CPI) support the Center. They help fund the Center they select CCPS projects relevant to improved process safety and they furnish the professionals who give the Center s works technical direction and substance.
