Unlike China, India is still recovering from the traumatic events of the Bhopal disaster in 1984 in which over 2,500 people were killed and over 200,000 injured. Because of this perhaps, the Indian chemic industry is under constant observation and likely to be one of the most regulated. As in other developing countries, the regulatory enforcement is very poor and the law breakers are difficult to control. 

The dichotomy in the development of offer and demand also has a direct impact on the development of the fine-chemical industry in a global context. Whereas Western companies have suffered from the reduced demand for custom manufacturing services, Asian companies have benefited from the generics boom. The opposite turnover development of selected Indian and European fine-chemical companies is depicted in Figure 10.1. 

Moreover, she is honored as FeUow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) , London in 2012 Bronze medal awarded by Chemical Research Society of India in 2012 International Distingnished Women Seien-tist Award in the international conference on Chemistry for Mankind organized by the joint venture of ACS, RSC and ISCB at Nagpur in 2011 Top Researcher award by the Vice Chancellor, University of Rajasthan based on highest /f-index in the survey done by DST New Delhi in 2009. Apart from this, she is a dedicated teacher and strives to be abreast of new developments in teaching methodologies and she has received Best Chemistry Teacher Award in India by Tata Chemicals Ltd., Confederation of Indian Industries and the Association of Chemistry Teachers in Nov, 2012.
