Incorporating into a model

In the absence of spectral information in the gas phase, it is common to compare calculated features of the vibrational spectrum to data measured in rare gas matrix, the premise being that the latter medium perturbs the H-bonded system as little as possible. The influence of the medium was considered via a self-consistent reaction-field formalism wherein inductive interactions between the polar system and the polarizable medium are incorporated into a model Hamiltonian ". The calculations made use of the 6-31G basis set at the SCF level. [Pg.147]

This gave the necessary link to the parameters of the theoretical models. The cross correlation represent the collective motion around the solute and as such are very difficult to incorporate into a model based on molecular properties. In the theoretical models for the electrostatic mechanism, the cross correlation was simply introduced as a scaling factor in front of the self EFG-TCF [37]. This scaling factor, however, contains information which is essential for understanding the relaxation mechanism. [Pg.305]

AT(ep), the first directly and the second because large overlaps lead to broad bands and, hence, to a lowering of the density of states. So, in this respect the 4d dimers should be somewhat less demanding than their 3d congeners. We will see, for the cases so far studied, that this is so. On the other hand, allelectron calculations are complicated by the extra shell of core electrons, although these can readily be incorporated into a model potential for most of the properties of current interest. Also on the more difficult side of the ledger are the increased relativistic corrections which, while still reasonably small for the 4d atoms, should be incorporated for high accuracy. [Pg.502]

When equilibrium data can be found, as for example in the Gmehling compilations, they should, of course, be checked for thermodynamic consistency and viewed critically. They may not cover all possible temperature, pressure, and composition conditions, thus they should be incorporated into a model such as described above. Then they can be extrapolated with some measure of reliability. Many distillation simulators have VLE built into them. [Pg.980]

In Sections 10.16.1 to 10.16.7 following, some of the ideas incorporated into a model of an electrolyte solution are developed. In this way, the alterations to the total potential energy can be illustrated qualitatively as a model is progressively refined. The model chosen is the Debye-Hiickel model which has been described in detail earlier in this chapter. [Pg.405]

The parameters of the system must be evaluated and the appropriate values must be used in tiie model. Some parameters can be obtained independently of the mathematical model. They may be of a basic character, like tiie gravitation constant, or it may be possible to determine them 1 independent measurements, Uke, for instance, solubility data fi om solubility experiments. However, it is usually not possible to evaluate all the parameters from specific experiments, and many of them have to be estimated by taking results from the whole (or a similar system), and tiien using parameter-fitting techniques to determine which set of parameter values makes the model best fit the experimental results. For example, a complex reaction may involve ten or more kinetic constants. These constants can be estimated 1 fitting a model to resnlts from a laboratory reactor. Once the parameter values have been determined, they can be incorporated into a model of a plant-scale reactor. [Pg.7]

Quinoxaline moieties can be incorporated into a model dipeptide by SPOS [36]. The Wang resin-immobilized dipeptide-bearing 3-(4-amino-3-nitrophenyl)alanine was reduced with SnCl2, and subsequent reaction of the resultant diamine with a dicarbonyl compound afforded dipeptide bearing the quinoxaline moiety (Scheme 14). [Pg.216]

In addition to photomodulation of enzymatic activity, an azobenzene moiety was incorporated into a model peptide antigen Glu-azoAla-Gly-Gly that allows for photoregulation of the antigen-antibody interaction. More recently, incorporation of an azobenzene moiety was used to photomodulate peptide conformation. The reader is referred to a recent review for more examples of photoresponsive peptides produced using azobenzene or spiropyran moieties. [Pg.2589]
