Incorporated amount

Although Buelens et al. evaluated a broader range of hydrodynamic conditions than had previously been done using a RDE [30], the amounts of particle incorporation used to establish the codeposition trends reported for the AU-AI2O3 system, as shown in Fig. 2, are very low in the range of 0.018 to 0.024 wt%. The initial decrease in codeposition observed in the transition region is only 0.006 wt%, the increase just prior to the turbulent region is only 0.0015 wt%, followed by a drop of 0.002 wt%. There is no discussion about the reproducibility or accuracy of these low incorporation amounts.

LB films of cadmium octadecanoate and other amphiphiles were transferred on a quartz-crystal microbalance (QCM, 9 MHz, AT-cut) as a substrate with a vertical dipping method. Frequencies of the QCM substrate were followed with time in air, after the QCM was raised from the interface. From the time courses of these frequency changes at each dipping cycle, the transfer amount of dry LB films (W ), the incorporated amount of water (W2), and its evaporation speed (v) could be obtained in nanogram level. 

The incorporated amount of water (W2) seems to increase with decreasing the dipping speed. Since the W2 value may include both the really incorporated water and the swelling with water when the substrate exists in the water subphase, the effect of dipping speed on W2 values should be divided in two factors. We have already reported...

According to the nature of a compound, different transformation reactions can occur before its excretion. The hold-up time of the compounds in the organism is influenced by the solubility, the vapor pressure, and the kind of metabolization, and can vary from some minutes (typical for solvents) up to several years (typical for heavy metals or halogenated hydrocarbons). The incorporated amount and the physical form also influence the toxicokinetics. Very important organs participating in the transformation of compounds are the liver, the lungs, the kidneys, and the stomach. A simplified overview is shown in Fig. 2.4. 

The above described polymers show a good combination of chemical, mechanical and process properties, and are particularly useful, either alone or as mixtures, as high-tenacity thermoplastic polymers and as elastomers or elastomeric modifiers. One can control both the incorporated amount of carbon monoxide and the ratio of cyclopentanones/cyclo-hexanones and, consequently, the properties of the desired polymer. This makes such a class of new materials of great potentid interest. 

The mutagenic effectiveness appeared to be negatively correlated with chorion formation, which starts about 5 days before and is completed 1 day before emergence. High mutation frequencies obtained by injection at earlier stages seemed to indicate that a relatively large amount of the chemical was incorporated into the egg plasm, but after the chorion was completed, the incorporated amount decreased appreciably. This view was based on the assumption that injected chemicals react with egg nuclei at their most sensitive stage, perhaps around meiotic metaphases I and II. 

It is virtually unavoidable that coupling units will be incorporated into the polymer backbone. Nevertheless, no measurable influence on the properties is expected since the incorporated amounts of comonomers are small (< 1 wt.%).
