Stable open circuit voltage (OCV VqO characteristic is considered advantageous with respect to on-boarding and discharging management, particularly in the case of batteries deployed by a satellite or a spacecraft. This permits easy and accurate estimation of the remaining battery capacity. Table 2.3 shows the actual OCV and internal resistance per battery cell as a function of battery SOC for a lithium-ion battery. These values will vary from one battery type to another as a function of SOC. [Pg.59]

Values of both battery cell parameters remain practically constant over the SOC range from 80% to 100%. This means that the battery state of the charge must be maintained greater than 80% if optimum values of OCV and internal resistance are desired at a specified battery temperature. [Pg.59]
