Identifiers Arabic numerals

Names of restriction endonucleases should follow the typeface conventions of the names from which they were derived use italic type for the three-letter portion derived from the genus and species name use roman type for additional strain designators (letters and/or arabic numerals) and for the roman numeral identifiers. [Pg.155]

Arabic numerals are used instead of Roman numerals in identifying (a) cranial nerves and nuclei (as in the Berman, 1968, atlas), and (b) layers of the spinal cord. While the spoken meaning is the same, the detection threshold is lower, ambiguity is reduced, and they are easier to position in small spaces available on diagrams. [Pg.481]

A widely recognized nomenclature has been adopted that classifies these enzymes into families and subfamilies based on their amino acid sequence homology [4]. Families are defined as having > 40% homology in their amino acid sequence and are coded with the letters CYP and an Arabic numeral (e.g., CYPl). Subfamilies have a >55% homology in amino acid sequence and have an additional letter (e.g., CYPl A). Where more than one subfamily has been identified, an additional Arabic numeral is added to identify the first, second, third gene found (e.g., CYPlAl, CYP1A2). [Pg.1582]

Figure 7,17. Kepliciiiion timing ofR bands. G-banded human karytilype showing the R bands identified by Sacconeet ai. (19961 as H3 (red), H3 (yellow) and H3 (white). G bands arc black, i hc replication class of R bands orDtitrillauxei al. (1976) are indicated (by Arabic numerals) on the left (H3 and H3 bands) and on the right (113" btinds) of each chromosome In some cases, the same R band corresponds to two different replication timings. (From Federico et al.. I99S). Figure 7,17. Kepliciiiion timing ofR bands. G-banded human karytilype showing the R bands identified by Sacconeet ai. (19961 as H3 (red), H3 (yellow) and H3 (white). Figure 4 Sampling plans for the determination of product uniformity within the lyophilizer. (A) Uniformity of protein content for a product in vials. (B, Q Uniformity of residual moisture for a product in ampoules. The lyophilizer has eight shelves and each shelf holds 15 trays of product containers. Arabic numerals refer to the tray number and show the order in which the trays are loaded during filling. Roman numerals relate to the sealing sequences. The trays are unloaded by blocks 12, starting from tray 120. As the trays are sealed in twos, the first two trays subject to sealing are identified by the number I, the last two trays by the number VI. The trays from which samples are collected for analysis are shaded. Figure 4 Sampling plans for the determination of product uniformity within the lyophilizer. Note Arabic numerals can be added as suffixes to the horizon designations to identify subdivisions within horizons. For example, Btl-Bt2-Bt3 indicated three subsamples of the Bt horizon. [Pg.934]

Why are the lUPAC names for substituents listed with common names In order to name such substituents, the longest linear chain is numbered from one end to the other by Arabic numerals, from the point of attachment to the longest linear chain. In other words, identify the substituent and begin... [Pg.104]

He invented the arrangement of elements in groups (horizontal rows identified in this version of the table by Roman numerals) and periods (vertical columns, identified by Arabic numbers). [Pg.117]

Each column in the periodic table is identified by a group number, an Arabic (1 to 8) or Roman (I to VIII) numeral followed by the letter A or B. For example, carbon is located in group 4A in the periodic table in this text. [Pg.10]

It was not always possible to assign one source so, the name Vida is labeled as either Spanish or Portuguese (meaning life ). On some occasions, particularly with coined names like The Botanika, it is not possible to identify the linguistic source. When combinations of letters or when Arabic or roman numerals are used (as in 2RVG), it has also not been possible to assign a linguistic source. [Pg.2004]
