Monoterpenes, which are present as main compounds in the oil of this species (pinocamphone, isopinocamphone), are relatively seldom detected in higher quantities in essential oils of other species. Although as highest number 44 components were detected in hyssop oil (Chalchat et ah, 2001), the major ones are relatively uniform and found almost in each examined accession (Table 4.3). Besides the mentioned compounds, the majority of further ones are also monoterpenes, products of related biosynthetic pathways (p-pinene, pinocarvone, myrtenol). In general, it can be observed that besides some mentioned compounds in higher amounts, all the others are present only in minimal concentrations. Thus, the biological variability of the herb oil of hyssop is relatively low as the available data show. [Pg.90]
