HyPr-RING gasification

Several new concepts under development for hydrogen production from coal were also described. The HyPr-RING method combines coal gasification, C02 separation, and water-gas shift reaction in a gasifier to produce hydrogen. [Pg.124]

A high partial pressure of steam is used to hydrate the CaO so that the exothermic reactions of carbonation supply a sufficient amount of energy for the endothermic gasification reaction. The calcium-based sorbent used in the HyPr-Ring process is either CaO or CaO/Ca(OH)2. [Pg.579]

Hydrogen production by reaction integrated novel gasification (HyPr-RiNG) strategy... [Pg.451]

The raw materials for the HyPr-RING process are the hydrocarbons, water, and a C02-sorbent, CaO. The hydrocarbon is converted into H2 and CO2 by steam gasification. CaO reacts with high-pressure steam to from Ca(OH)2 which absorbs CO2 to form CaCOa. This reaction releases the heat required by the gasification. CaO is regenerated in a second reactor in which CO2 is produced. [Pg.451]
