Hydrogen tellurite

Sodium teUurate [10101-25-8] Na2Te04, (53.7% Te theoretically), is made by oxidizing sodium tellurite solution with hydrogen peroxide. The reaction is exothermic. [Pg.386]

H2Te (hydrogen telluride, colorless), HTe (hydrogen telluride ion, colorless), Te (telluride ion, colorless), Te (ditelluride ion, red), Te" + (tellurous ion), HTeOj (telluryl ion), HTeO (acid tellurite ion, colorless), TeO " (tellurite ion, colorless), H2Te04 (telluric acid, colorless), HTeOJ (acid tellurate ion, colorless), TeO (tellurate ion, colorless). [Pg.66]

The higher sulfides of tellurium such as TeS2 and TeSs, are obtained from tellurite solutions by precipitation with hydrogen sulfide or sodium sulfide. Tellurium reacts with concentrated sulfuric acid to form red oxysulfide of the composition, TeSOs. With nitric acid, the metal is oxidized to dioxide, Te02. Oxidation of tellurium with chromic acid or potassium permanganate in nitric acid yields orthotelluric acid (HeTeOe). [Pg.918]

The soluble tellurites are more toxic than the selenites and arsenites. Hydrogen telluride, formed by the action of water on aluminum telluride [12043-29-77, Al2Te3, is a toxic gas (43). [Pg.388]

The presence of tellurite makes a special method necessary for the estimation of the fluoride, and it is found 1 that after hydrolysis the hydrogen fluoride may be titrated with alkali, using p-nitrophenol as indicator, the end-point not being affected by the presence of tellurous acid. [Pg.373]

Aqueous solutions of the alkali hydroxides readily dissolve tellurium dioxide with formation of the corresponding tellurite. In the presence of hydrogen peroxide the corresponding tellurate is formed.11 Ammonia and the alkali carbonates in cold aqueous solution have little effect, but the latter in hot solution or in the fused condition give rise to tellurites. Nitrates of the alkali metals on fusion with tellurium dioxide produce tellurates.12... [Pg.380]

Certain unstable thiotellurites have been prepared by the action of hydrogen sulphide on solutions of alkali tellurites, the most definite being the potassium salt, K2TeS3.5... [Pg.389]

Hydrogen sulphide no precipitate in hydrochloric acid solution in the cold. In hot acid solution, the tellurate is first reduced to tellurite, and precipitation of the tellurium then occurs (compare Section VII.12). Other reducing agents give similar results. [Pg.523]

TELLURIUM and COMPOUNDS (as Te) (Tellurium compounds have variable molecular formulas. The molecular formula for tellurium is Te. The molecular formulas for hydrogen telluride and potassium tellurite are H2Te and KaTeOs, respectively. Tellurium compounds have variable formula weights. The formula weight for tellurium is 127.60. The formula weights for hydrogen telluride and potassium tellurite are 129.6 and 253.8, respectively.)... [Pg.926]

SYNONYMS Synonyms vary depending upon the specific tellurium compound, (tellurium) aurum paradoxum, metallum poblematum, tellurium, metallic, (hydrogen telluride) dihydrogen telluride, tellurium hydride, (potassium tellurite) potassium tellurate (IV). [Pg.926]
