Reverse spillover or back-spillover is observed to proceed by surface migration of the spiltover species from the accepting sites to the metal, where it desorbs as H2 molecules or reacts with another hydrogen acceptor such as 02, pentene, ethylene, etc. Reverse or back-spillover (primary as well as secondary) is hindered by H20 (11), whereas secondary spillover is promoted by H20 (case B in Fig. 1). Hydrogen spillover depends on the acceptor surface it is thought to be easier on silica than on alumina (45) for hydrogen-molybdenum-bronze preparation. [Pg.11]

Another series of low-dimensional bronzes which have been the subject of a SIESTA study [214] are the hydrogen molybdenum bronzes, HxMoOs (0mixed conductors displaying a wide range of colors and properties [215-217]. Every one of the four stable phases—I (x ii0.33), II III (x iil.66), and IV (x 2)—exhibits a differ-... [Pg.152]

The conductivity measurements were made by a.c. methods (silver paint electrodes) and by d.c. methods (hydrogen molybdenum bronze electrodes). The measurements were made in the temperature range from —10 °C to 85 °C. In the lower part of the temperature range, the Arrhenius plots show linear behaviour. In the upper part (30-85 °C), the Arrhenius law was not obeyed. [Pg.216]

In this paper we describe methods for the preparation of finely divided bronzes HxMo03, either neat or coated with Pt particles. Unlike most of the previous-works in which hydrogen molybdenum bronzes were elaborated from single crystals or from powders of M0O3 of low surface area (a few m g ), the high division state of the materials used in this study makes the bronzes particularly suitable for catalytic applications. [Pg.679]

The finely divided hydrogen molybdenum bronzes thus prepared are potential catalysts for several types of reactions. [Pg.685]
