Hydrogen economics

Hawkins and Joffe (2005) have reviewed the literature on the costs of four major hydrogen production technologies, SMR (large and small scale). [Pg.23]

Technology Transition scenario Cost range, US (2000)/ kgH2 Comments [Pg.24]

large scale ( 100 MW) SLF, CHT, UH 5.25-7.26 Cost highly dependent on natural gas price [Pg.24]

Coal gasification (min. 376MW) SLF, CHT, UH 5.4-6.8 Coal price more stable and predictable than natural gas [Pg.24]

Biomass gasification ( 10MW) SLF, CHT, UH 7.54-32.61 (av. 14.31) Size ranges from 25 to 303 MW and affects cost [Pg.24]

The basic principle of this hydrogen economizer device is to measure the current load and to determine the hydrogen flow that is decided by a characteristic function programmed into the chip. The control is done in feed forward mode and for better stability it also checks hydrogen flow at the PAFC outlet. Based on this feedback, a correction on hydrogen flow is made. [Pg.212]
