Hydrogen Analyzers

Hydrogen should be monitored at die economizer inlet and the superheater outlet. A hydrogen analyzer-recorder can actuate an alarm when the hydrogen concentration of the feedwater or steam deviates from the safe value, which is specified for the plant. Deviation from the normal hydrogen concentration can indicate that corrosion is taking place within the water-steam system.

The metrological complex including the hydrogen analyzer and the calibration standards allows realization of the principle of unity of measurement means in conducting analysis of various metals and alloys and obtaining additional information on the volume and structure of bulk and surface mechanical defects.

CS3 A carbon-hydrogen analyzer uses a water absorber (which contains magnesium perchlorate, MgjClO ) and a carbon dioxide absorber (which contains sodium hydroxide, NaOH). The water absorber is always located in front of the carbon dioxide absorber.

X-ray microprobe, neutron activation, and electro-analytical methods have been mentioned in the literature. Carbon and Hydrogen Analyzers Carbon and hydrocarbon analyzers are used when the possibility of organic contamination of the condensate is likely to occur without simultaneous contamination by inorganics which will activate a conductivity alarm. These analyzers are quite expensive and require frequent maintenance for reliability.
