Hybrid analogs

To study the response of the kiln to transient conditions and to different control schemes, the set of partial differential equations (39), (40), (44), and (48) were solved using a hybrid analog-digital computer, the EAI Hydac 2000. A description of the computer and of the methods used in the solution are given in the paper by Weekman et al. (1967). The kiln conditions used in the simulation to be discussed are given in Table V. The dynamic model was first used to study the effect of fast coke on kiln stability. [Pg.35]

The C=0 absorption bonds in trifluoroacetyl-substituted 56 have been determined to be between 1647 and 1653 cm"1,144,146 in benzoyl-substituted 49 at 1621cm-1,136 in formyl-substituted 49 at 1606cm-1,135 and in benzoyl-substituted 35 between 1625 and 1640 cm-1.100 Many authors have concluded that cannonical forms 116b and 117b contribute greatly to the ground state resonance hybrid. Analogous frequency shifts have been found in the nitriles of indeno[2,l-6] series 34 and 33.96... [Pg.228]

Recently, much effort has been directed to the synthesis of analogs of the biologically active form of vitamin D3, la,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 [la,25(OH)2D3] as an important new field in medicinal chemistry [50], As a new and efficient route to this class of compounds, the symmetry -assisted enantiospecific synthesis of the A-ring of the vitamin D-hybrid analogs, 19-nor-22-oxa-la,25(OH)2D3 was reported (Scheme 8C.20) [51]. It should be noted that any gem-dialkyl substituents is not necessary to attain a high level of enantioselectivity. [Pg.558]

Mesoporous Materials with Inorganic Hosts. 83 Nanoscopic voids surrounded only by a comparatively thin layer of hybrid material are often referred to as nanocontainers. Intensive research on these hybrid analogs of micelles or vesicles has already accomplished rather sophisticated functions as presented in Chapter 22. [Pg.8]

The hybrid analogs 42 (n = 4—10, 12) comprising tacrine and a moiety of HA were aU more potent AChEIs than tacrine and HA. When n = 10, 42 displayed the... [Pg.162]

Based on the anti-AChE activity of huperzine B (HB, 47), a natural homolo-gue of HA, Rajendran et al. prepared 48a-c, hybrid analogs of HA and HB. " In comparison with ( )-HA, 48a-c are approximately 10-100 times less active in AChE inhibition. [Pg.165]

As we have seen in the preceding sections, the solution of unsteady conduction problems is, in general, not mathematically simple, and one must usually resort to a number of solution methods to evaluate the unsteady temperature distribution. We have also learned how to obtain solutions by using the available charts for a class of analytical results. In Chapter 4 we will explore the use of numerical computations to evaluate multidimensional and unsteady conduction problems. These computations require approximate difference formulations to represent time and spatial derivatives. Actually there exists a third and hybrid (analog) method that allows us to evaluate the temperature distribution in a conduction problem by using a timewise differential and spacewise difference formulation. This method utilizes electrical circuits to represent unsteady conduction problems. The circuits are selected in such a way that the voltages (representing temperatures) obey the same differential equations as the temperature. [Pg.168]

Using the system dichloroethane-toluene as an ejcample Wagner and Blass [262] describe a procedure for a hybrid analog computer which simulates stepwise rectification. This allows the determination of the stiU head or still pot concentration in the separation of binary mixtures for given operating parameters and equilibrium curves as a function of time. [Pg.202]

Combinatorial metabolism in hybrids frequently occurs in plants, which can alter their resistance against biotic and abiotic stresses and lead to the formation of new hybrid species (Figure 2.1 Ic). For example, the combination of PKS and NRPS can produce a wide variety of hybrid analogs [31]. [Pg.68]

Chlorine is monovalent (like a hydrogen atom), so carbon should form four covalent bonds to four chlorine atoms and remain electrically neutral. Therefore, it should exhibit sp hybridization analogous to methane. [Pg.81]

Several manufacturers provide fieldbus controllers that reside in the final control element or measurement transmitter. A suitable communications modem is present in the device to interface with a proprietary PC-based, or hybrid analog/digital bus network. Case studies in implementing such digital systems have shown significant reductions in cost of installation (mostly cabling and connections) vs. traditional analog field communication. [Pg.1986]

An example of a hybrid analog/digital protocol that is open (not proprietary) and in use by several vendors is the highway addressable remote transducer (LIART) protocol. Digital communications utilize the same two wires that provide the 4 to 20 mA process control signal without disrupting the actual process... [Pg.1986]

A number of other compounds were produced in the course of synthesis which turned out to be of interest. Alkaline hydrolysis of the bicyclic cyanohydrin produced, in addition to the exo isomer 40, a small amount of the endo diastereomer 41. These are improved versions of the Andrews et al. hydroxy diacids 28 and 32. In addition, as a side product in the enolate nitration reaction, a dehydro derivative is produced, which can subsequently be deblocked to afford the sp -hybridized analog 42. [Pg.138]
