There are some standards available full text on CD-ROM. In the United Kingdom, the HSELINE database, OSHROM CD-ROM, OSH-UK CD-ROM list references to standards. British Standards are available full text in the Technical Indexes CD-ROM service likewise the BSI catalog is available online as BSI Standardline, and on PERINORM CD-ROM. [Pg.86]

OSH References allows you to search over 300 000 summaries. This collection of bibliographic databases provides you with convenient access to international sources of OSH-related information including OSHline , NIOSHTIC , NlOSHTlC-2, HSELINE, CISILO, and Canadiana. [Pg.314]

This database links over 4000 consumer brands to health effects from Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) provided by the manufacturers. Information on specific products includes chemical ingredients and their percentages, which products contain specific chemical ingredients, manufacturers of specific brands and their contact information, and acute and chronic health effects information. Combines six databases with references to the world s literature on occupational health and safety and environmental medicine. Consists of CISDOC (CIS Abstracts by the International Labour Office), HSELine (from the Health and Safety Executive in the UK), MHIDAS (from the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority), NIOSHTIC and NIOSHTIC-2 (from the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health), RILOSH Index (from the Ryer-son Polytechnic University Library, Canada) and MEDLINE-OEM (occupational and environmental medicine subset from the National Library of Medicine, US). The translations produced by the HSE Information Service are included in HSELINE, HSE s publicly available database. In addition HSELINE contains references to translations which have been acquired from other organizations, such as the US National Institute of Occupational Health (NIOSH) and the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS). HSE issues free of charge a quarterly Translation Bulletin listing all the new translations which are available for sale. The translations are priced at a firaction of the original. Anyone wishing to receive the free Translation Bulletin should wrote to HSE Information Service, Languages Unit, Harper Hill, Buxton, Derbyshire, England (see also chapter by Cowie and Richardson). [Pg.85]

The most important databases for health and safety information are CISDOC, produced by the International Labour Office, Geneva HSELINE, from the UK Health and Safety Executive and RTECS (the Registry of Toxic Effects of Chemical Substances) from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in the United States. CISDOC and HSELINE are available through the ESA set of databases. RTECS is also available in hard copy, from NIOSH agents. [Pg.98]

The headquarters of the HSE Library and Information Service in Sheffield acts as the UK national centre for the ILO Health and Safety Service. Through the CIS, HSE enjoys links with 50 national centres in other countries. The ILO/CIS publishes their Safety and Health Bulletin and also various bibliographies which are available to subscribers. CIS also has a database CISDOC which is available on the European Space Agency Information Retrieval service in Italy (and available in the UK via the Department of Trade and Industry)" and also Telesysteme Questel in France. Anyone accessing ESA/IRS will be able to move quickly from one database, such as HSELINE, to another, such as CISDOC. The latter is a very good source for standards and legislation produced by other countries. There is a descriptive brochure, a sample of CIS abstracts and a list of publications on occupational health and safety produced by ILO available from any of the Enquiry Points above. [Pg.153]
