Pressure-sensitive hot melt

D.K. Fisher, Hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive composition for attaching roofing membranes, US Patent 6794449, assigned to Adco Products, Inc. (Michigan Center, MI), September 21, 2004. [Pg.184]

Additional block terpolymers containing propyl acrylate and star block terpo-lymers containing styrene were previously prepared by the author [2] and used in hot-melt pressure-sensitive and heat-activatable adhesives. [Pg.13]

Hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesives (spray application). [Pg.117]

Adhesive - A material, usually polymeric, capable of forming permanent or temporary surface bonds with another material as-is or after processing such as curing. Used for bonding and joining. Some of the classes of adhesives include hot-melt, pressure-sensitive, contact, UV cured, emulsion, etc. [Pg.521]

Good processing characteristics Adhesives can be supplied as contact bonding types—either in water- or solvent-based systems—hot-melt, pressure sensitive, or as reactive systems—either 100% solids content or solvent based. [Pg.521]

The major differences between solvent-based and hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesives is that with hot melts the viscosity can no longer be controlled with solvents, and must, instead, be controlled either by temperature or by formulating. A further limitation is that waxes cannot, in general, be used for reducing viscosity as is the case with conventional hot melts, as waxes tend to reduce tack drastically. Hence the major influence on viscosity in the formulation must come from the choice and quantity of tackifier resin. [Pg.827]
