Host principle

Whether on land or offshore, the principle of satellite development is the same. A new field is accessed with wells, and an export link is installed to the existing (host) facility. Development is not always easier on land, as environmental restrictions mean that some onshore fields have to be developed using directional drilling techniques (originally associated with offshore developments). A vertical well can be drilled offshore away from the host facility, and the well completed using a subsea wellhead. [Pg.362]

All three tasks are generally too complicated to be solved from first principles. They are, therefore, tackled by making use of prior information, and of information that has been condensed into knowledge. The amount of information that has to be processed is often quite large. At present, more than 41 million different compounds are known all have a series of properties, physical, chemical, or biological all can be made in many different ways, by a wide range of reactions all can be characterized by a host of spectra. Since air is a mixture of predominantly nitrogen, oxygen, and a host of lesser impurities, there has been less interest in developing precise thermodynamic properties.
