Homophobia

A culture that cares for all of its people must hear the stories of all, as did Native American communities before the U.S. government pressured them into adoption of the European model of allowing a dominant few to do the speaking and decision-making for all. Today we are farther than ever from an all-inclusive model of community. In a country racked by racism, sexism, homophobia, and economic injustice, the stories of non-dominant people represent a crucial undercurrent or subtext necessary for a viable, holistic understanding of life experience.

Finally, be aware of your own culture, but don t inpose it upon patients or colleagues your job is to provide healthcare to people in need, regardless of their background.
