Hold elements filters

Theoretically there is no output from a sampler between sampling times (Fig. 7.88c). In practice the sampler output is controlled between samples by a filter or hold element. The most common type of filter is the zero-order hold element (ZOH) in which the value of the previous sample is retained until the next sample is taken (Fig. 7.92a). [Pg.679]

Consider a ZOH inserted in a closed-loop system as shown in Fig. 1.92b. The combined output of the sampler and the ZOH can be considered as a series of positive and negative step changes of equal magnitude occurring at successive sampling instants (Fig. 7.92a), i.e. [Pg.679]

As f (s) is the Laplace transform of the output of the sampler without the ZOH, the remaining term must represent the Laplace transform for the zero-order hold element, i.e.  [Pg.680]

The factor Gf(s) = [1 - exp(- i)] is the Laplace transform of a function of time fe(/) consisting of a positive unit impulse occurring at / = 0 and a negative unit impulse occurring at t = Thus fe(t) exists only at the sampling instants and the sampled function f (t) will be the same as feU). Hence G (s) = Ge(.s), and  [Pg.680]

Contrary to most aggregation-based approaches, Similarity Flooding/Rondo [Melnik et al. 2002, 2003] uses a graph propagation mechanism to refine similarities between schema elements. Thus, it holds specific parameters. The first one is fixpoint formula, which enables the computation of updated similarities and the end of execution of the propagation. Different fixpoint formulas have been tested and evaluated in Melnik et al. [2002], In addition, several filters are proposed to select among all candidate pairs the ones that Rondo displays as mappings. Constraints (on cardinality and types) or thresholds are examples of filters. [Pg.304]

The CAER SBCR plant was overhauled and redesigned to incorporate automatic slurry level control and wax filtration systems. These design changes will allow a more constant inventory of the catalyst to be maintained in the reactor while reducing slurry hold-up in the catalyst/wax separation system. In addition, the wax filtration system was rearranged to accept a variety of filter elements. These additions were meant to enhance the stability of the reactor operation so that long-term tests can be conducted to study catalyst deactivation and attrition under real-world conditions. [Pg.408]

Perhaps the most serious criterion of performance relates to the permeability of the used medium Failure to release solids after an initial deposition also has serious economic consequences, except in those cases where disposable filter elemoits are intentionally used. In these cases, fluids containing extremely small amounts of solids are processed, the particles are tnqrped intema% and no attenq>t is made to clean the element. An important characteristic of such elements is their solids-holding capacity. [Pg.133]

Asahi Kasei Chemicals. Asahi Kasei s electrolyzer (Acilyzer-ML ) [90-93] is a filter-press type bipolar cell holding a series of cell frames up to a total of 180. The right side of Fig. 5.24 shows a fient view of the cell frame and the bipolar cell element. The left side shows a cross-sectional view or two cell frames with the membrane in between. Various components are labeled. A unit cell consists of the anode compartment from one bipolar cell frame, a membrane, and the cathode compartment of a second bipolar cell frame. [Pg.428]

In the pressure hold-test, the filter membrane or candle in its tightly closed case is set under test gas pressure. Next, the test gas supply to the filter holder is shut. On the side where the pressure was applied (measured in the filter case) the pressure decrease, as a result from gas diffusion through the wetted membrane filter element, is measured. Very sensitive and calibrated manometers in the testing device are required... [Pg.691]

Multivariate optical elements provide a number of advantages over other types of spectrometers the cost of creating the filters is low, and the design of the spectrophotometer is simple there is no moving part, thus reducing the need for instrument maintenance, and the instrument footprint is limited, with devices that can be reduced to hold in the hand. [Pg.26]

Thus, adhesion appears at two stages of the filtration process in holding the particles when these touch the filtering element, and preventing them from being carried away on subsequent passage of the gas, and also in connection with the regeneration of a spent filter. [Pg.303]
