Hip belts

The motor with filter(s) can be used quickly after purchase without the hose. However, just to be safe, allow the engine to run and gas out in another room. The motor can be held on your lap, for example in the car or when making unsafe visits. The hip belt can be used for the motor, but the motor can also be worn in a backpack as long as it has enough holes for ventilation. In that case, use the flexible hose. 

The back system s main function is to provide the transfer mechanism between the load shoulder straps and hip belt. Critical in this function, as with shoulder straps and hip belts, is the fit of the back system to the user, ideally using appropriate anthropometric data. The inclusion of stiffened frames (which mechanically join the shoitlder straps and hip belt) has been shown to be one of the most critical inclusions in a LCS design for mitigating injury potential.

In terms of recent innovations, it is worth acknowl ging advances in lower extremity prosthetics with respect to suspension. Historic suspension mechanisms such as hip and waist belts and fork straps and supracondylar cuffs for transfemoral and transtibial amputees, respectively, have been largely replaced by suction. Suction has been induced using neoprene suspension sleeves, TES belts, and shuttle-locking mechanisms. 

To design LCS sueeessfully, it should be remembered that LCS is a sub-system within a soldier system (human and equipment) and as such is affected and affects other elements in the soldier system. LCS are rarely used by themselves and can also consist of a number of LCS sub-systems, particularly if a traditional belt order and rueksaek system is used (see Fig. 13.3) a belt order LCS providing the hip-bearing load ability for the rucksack. 

Workers handling lacrimators may acquire an irritant eczematous dermatitis, especially in areas where there is friction, as at the neck and waist. Most areas of the skin may be subject to irritant dermatitis from chloracetophenone and CS (Maibach and Mar-zulli 1971). Localized occupational dermatitis in police officers has been reported on the hip near the belt line from leaking or self-discharging tear gas canisters or holsters (Rietschel and Fowler 1995). 

Seat belt should fit snugly across hips. 

Seat belt and seat. Ensure the seat belt is functional and intact. The seat should be secure and equipped with wings or hip bolsters to aid the operator in event of a tipover. 

Operator restraint system The term used for the components on lift trucks that restrain the operator of the lift truck, primarily consisting of the seat belt and hip restraint. It also includes seat mounting, hood, and hood hardware where applicable and instructional material such as warning decals and the operator s manual. 

Seat belt The belt, retractor, and buckle components attached to the seat to restrain the operator at the waist and hips. It can also be referred to as a lap belt.
