Sevoflurane. Sevoflurane, l,l,l,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-propyl fluromethyl ether [28523-86-6] is nonpungent, suggesting use in induction of anesthesia. The blood/gas partition coefficient is less than other marketed products (Table 1) yet similar to nitrous oxide, suggesting fast onset and recovery. In animal studies, recovery was faster for sevoflurane than for isoflurane, enflurane, or halothane (76). Sevoflurane is stable to light, oxygen, and metals (28). However, the agent does degrade in soda lime (77). [Pg.409]

Cleavage of this group is achieved with tetramethylguanidinium syn-2-pyridinecarboxaldoxime. Tris(hexafluoro-2-propyl) phosphites are sufficiently reactive to undergo transesterification with alcohols in a stepwise fashion. ... [Pg.683]

Experience in PTC with cationic catalysts showed that, in general, the most suitable compounds have symmetrical structures, are lipophilic, and have the active cationic charge centrally located or sterically shielded by substituents. For anionic catalysis sodium tetraphenylborate fulfills these conditions, but it is not stable under acidic conditions. However, certain derivatives of this compound, namely sodium tetra-kis[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]borate (TFPB, 12.162) and sodium tetrakis[3,5-bis-(l,l,l,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-methoxy-2-propyl)phenyl]borate (HFPB) are sufficiently stable to be used as PTC catalysts for azo coupling reactions (Iwamoto et al., 1983b 1984 Nishida et al., 1984). These fluorinated tetraphenylborates were found to catalyze strongly azo coupling reactions, some of which were carried out with the corresponding diazotization in situ. [Pg.378]

Hexafluoro-2-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-propyl acrylate (la) and hexafluoro-2-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-propyl methacrylate (lb)7 were prepared by gradually adding a solution of 0.06 mol of acryloyl or methacryloyl chloride, respectively, in 20 ml of tetrahydrofuran (THF), to a cooled solution of 0.04 mol of HFAF in 50 ml of THF containing 0.06 mol oftriethylamine. The mixture was stirred for 10-12 h at room temperature it then was poured into 200ml of water, and the new product was extracted with diethyl ether. After the diethyl ether was evaporated, the crude product was purified by column chromatography using a mixture of hexane and dichloromethane (1 1 by volume) as the elution solvent. Distillation afforded la, b.p. 72-74°C/10"3 mm Hg, and lb, b.p. 48-52oC/103 mm Hg. [Pg.20]

Based on the precedent of Van Leeuwen and Roobeek, livinghouse and co-workers screened a variety of electron-deficient phosphine/phosphite ligands for the rhodium-catalyzed [4-1-2] reaction, which provided an alternative catalyst system for the formation of 5,6- and 6,6-ring systems [13]. The most notable of these was the tris-(hexafluoro-2-propyl) phosphite-modified rhodium complex, which was applicable to both carbon- and oxygen-tethered substrates, and also provided the first example of a facial-directed diastereoselective intramolecular rhodium-catalyzed [4-i-2] reaction (Eq. 4). [Pg.244]
