Heterocyclic amines structure

Other common five-membered heterocyclic amines include imidazole and thiazole. Imidazole, a constituent of the amino acid histidine, has two nitrogens, only one of which is basic. Thiazole, the five-membered ring system on which the structure of thiamin (vitamin Bt) is based, also contains a basic nitrogen that is alkylated in thiamin to form a quaternary ammonium ion.

As mentioned in Section 5.2.2.6, the reaction of [TcCl3(PPh3)2(NCCH3)] (412) with Zn dust with heterocyclic amines produces complexes of Tc in oxidation states +III, -fll, and -fl. Despite the presence of polar moieties including, e.g. tertiary amine, ester-, hydroxyl- and epoxy-groups, non-protonated uncharged TTA are quite lipophilic. Lipophilicity is mainly caused by the heterocyclic tropane structure and aromatic (substituted) phenyl rings (Fig. 1). 

The co-ordination chemistry of vanadium(n) has been extended by the preparation and characterization of complexes with aliphatic and heterocyclic amines.365 Intense charge-transfer bands dominate the reflectance spectrum of the dark-red or red-brown V(amine)4X2 complexes (amine = py, / - and y-picoline X = Cl, Br, or I) but assignments of some of the d-d transitions indicate a trans-dihalogeno structure this is consistent with the spin-only magnetic moments ca. 3.87 BM.
