Herbs and Drug Effects

Concurrent use of herbs may mimic, magnify, or oppose the effect of drugs. Plausible cases of herb-drug interactions include the following  

Furthermore, plants containing anthranoids, including senna (Cassia senna) and cascara (.Rhamnus purshiana), and soluble fibers, including guar gum and psyllium, can decrease the absorption of drugs (Fugh-Berman, 2000 Table 4.1).
