Inducsn An optional helical Inducer Is available to substantially reduce the pump NPSH requirement. 

The macromolecular helicity induced in poly(phenylacetylene)s 28-30 (Fig. 14) upon complexation with chiral amines is dynamic in nature, and therefore, the ICD due to the helical chirality immediately disappears when exposed to a stronger acid such as trifluoroacetic acid. However, during the intensive exploration of the helicity induction and chirality amplification mechanism of the poly(phenylacetylene)s, such an induced helical chirality of 28-30 by an optically active amine such as (R)-39 has been found to be maintained, namely memorized , when the chiral amine is completely removed and replaced by various achiral amines, for example, 71 and 72 for 28 and diamines such as ethylenediamine for 29 and 30 in...

The power of the charge-state analysis to elucidate structures of peptides has also been demonstrated [26,27]. As shown in Figure 10.2 for P-endorphin, a 31-amino acid peptide, the CSD is shifted to lower charge states in the presence of a helicity-inducing organic solvent (Figure 10.2c), methanol, compared to that observed in water (Figure 10.2a), where the peptide exists predominantly in an open-structure form. 

Binaphthyl derivatives with axial chirality are known as powerful helicity inducers [74]. The unique combinations of binaphthyl with azobenzene units generated a family of axially chiral azobenzene compounds with very high HTPs and significantly broadened the area of reflection color tuning using a single chiral molecular switch. Compound 31 was reported by Spada et al. with a high HTP of 144 p,m in ZLI-2359, which decreased to 78 xm upon UV irradiation [79, 114]. As... 

The first successful application of this idea was the correlation of the absolute configurations of a series of chiral secondary alcohols, containing an aromatic ring and having a single asym-metirc centre, using a qualitative comparison of the handedness of the helices induced in MBBA(17). 

Also, chiral fullerene derivatives have found use in biological applications [50] and in polymer science as helicity inducers [51]. Recently, fullerene chirality has demonstrated to be critical in generating a supramolecular architecture of donor-acceptor dyads (based in a chiral pyrrolidino[60]fullerene) giving rise to photoconductive nanofibers displaying very high ambipolar charge-carrier mobility ( 10 cm /(V s)), which was higher than that obtained from racemic dyads in spherical assembly [52].
