Heat insulation panels

Some designers use a roof pond, in which plastic bags filled with liquid are exposed to the sun during the day. They are covered with an insulating panel at night so that they can radiate stored heat downward to the structure. The cycle can be reversed to provide cooling during summer.

Because cement-based materials are well-known insulators, another avenue for further research and product development is the strategic use of fiber-cement composites for sound and heat insulation. Such products might be composed wholly of fiber-cement (likely aerated) or where fiber cement is just one component in an insulating panel or member. 

Based on experience, under the above conditions, production of at least 80-120 silver atoms per sulfonated center is adequate to provide a total metallic-type barrier to the passage of air. For insulation applications, plastics are mostly used. For water insulation (waterproofing), PU, PVC, thermoplastic elastomers, silicones, various rubbers, acrylics, and even PE are mainly used. For heat insulation applications, PVC, EPS, PU foams are used directly (for roofs and walls), as well as in sandwich panels. In addition, UPVC-hollow panels are being used as interior cladding to provide multi-purpose insulation (for water, heat, noise), specifically for pipes, wall insulation, and so on.

Insulation panels use the Dewar s principle [48] which uses reflective outer layers and encaged stagnant insulating media in between, which is the most effective way of heat insulation. 

Nonhydraulic cements are the most ancient type of cement. Most of these cements derive from the simple calcination of gypsum or calcium carbonates such as limestones. They harden when the calcine obtained is mixed with a given amount of water but the hardened products then produced when put in direct contact with water again are subject to dissolution and hence they are not resistant to water. Gypsum cement is still widely used in modern countries as plaster of Paris for interior applications like insulation panels. The transformation of natural gypsum to the calcium sulfate hemihydrate is obtained by moderate heat treating at 130-150 C and it is described by the following chemical reaction ...

Machinery enclosures Walls of acoustic enclosures should consist of heavy but flexible panels lined internally with sound-absorbing material. Adequate ventilation, demountability of the enclosure for repairs, and arrangements for operating and/or observing the machine to be provided. If hot gas fans are acoustically enclosed, the surface of the fan casing should additionally be heat-insulated.
