Hazards seeking

Many young people are not thrilled with their bodies, or with themselves overall. These feelings are often mild and temporary, and do improve. For some, though, negative body image and poor self-esteem may become serious health hazards. Seek help if you or a friend ... [Pg.86]

In all other situations in which the warnings about danger are not obvious, people will only detect danger if they go looking for it and we need to know what initiates hazard seeking and what makes it successful. [Pg.357]

Diversity is recognized as a useful approach to reduce the number of defects. The team that conducts the process hazards analysis does not implement the safety interlocks but provides the specifications for the safety interlocks to another organization for implementation. This organization reviews the specifications for each safety interlock, seeking clarifications as necessary from the process hazards analysis team and bringing any perceived deficiencies to the attention of the process hazards analysis team. [Pg.798]

The toller needs to be familiar with all raw materials, intermediate materials, products and wastes, used, produced or generated, respectively, while operating the process. Tollers in the U.S. should comply with the Federal OSHA Hazard Communication Standard, codified as 29 CFR. 1910.1200 and any similar state right-to-know laws that are currently in force or may be enacted during the term of the contract. This is often stated in the contract. The contract may require the toller to inform its employees of the chemical hazards associated with products or chemicals and may also be responsible for training its employees in the proper handling methods. The toller has an obligation when in doubt about a product or chemical, to seek further information from the product s manufacturer. [Pg.61]

Another common problem area is having open and closed drain systems tied together. Liquid which drains from pressure vessels flash at atmospheric pressures giving off gas. If this liquid flows in the same piping as open drains, the gas will seek the closest exit to atmosphere it can find, causing a potential fire hazard at any open drain in the. system. [Pg.419]
