Hazard analysis clarity

In spite of its obvious importance, Human Factors Engineering tends to be something of an orphan child during the design of facilities. The topic rarely has a well-defined position within Safety Management Systems in the way that say Hazards Analysis does. This lack of clarity is illustrated by the following quotation from the General section of API RP 75. [Pg.314]

Clarity and Flexibility of Output Results. Complete output results are preferably stored in a file with only a summary displayed on screen. In heavy gas dispersion modeling, the applicability is commonly the description of hazard effects (toxicity, flammability) for use in risk analysis. [Pg.438]

The number of commercial indexing and QRA assisting software tools is surprisingly small. Furthermore these tools are only applicable for fire risks and do not consider explosion risks and hazards. Currently, there is no clarity which of the specified tools is more preferable to the quantitative analysis. Often these tools do not asses risk but hazards (i.e. ignoring the frequentistic risk element) or only weight and evaluate the overall levels of fire safety of buildings, which is characteristic for indexing methods. [Pg.1375]
