Hand-lever shears

Cutting is carried out using simple snips for thin-gauge steel up to around 20 SWG, treadle-operated guillotines capable of cutting 14 SWG steel, and hand-lever shears for sheet up to 1.5 mm thick. [Pg.59]

Manual shears are hand or foot operated to move the crosshead through the stroke. The hand-operated shear is equipped with a hand lever that is attached to an eccentric shaft and is pulled downward to move the crosshead through the stroke. [Pg.549]

The discard having been sheared off, the dummy is knocked out of the shell and placed upright on a small platform (see Fig. 67), from where it is lifted by actuating a hand-lever, whereupon it rolls off through an inclined chute / on to a rotary table z and after a 90" turn through the chute y right in front of the container. The rotary table is moved by actuating a foot pedal. This chute y is split to allow for the container to be shifted. [Pg.76]

Machine screws (or bolts) require special tools. The combination wrench is one type of hand tool used with machine screws. The adjustable wrench is more versatile, allowing the technician to use it with different sizes of machine screws (see Figure 8-20). We may also use pliers, second-class levers, during the combining process. Pliers can be found in various types (see Figure 8-21). Slip joint pliers allow material to be held firmly. Needle nose pliers can hold smaller items. Diagonal pliers (cutters) are actually a shearing tool for wire. [Pg.192]
