Nefazodone haloperidol

Drugs that affect nefazodone include general anesthetics, sibutramine, sumatriptan, buspirone, carbamazepine, and propranolol. Drugs that may be affected by nefazodone include alcohol, benzodiazepines, buspirone, carbamazepine, cisapride, digoxin, haloperidol, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, MAOIs, propranolol, St. John s wort, cyclosporine, and tacrolimus. 

The use of two or more agents concurrently has the potential for possibly deleterious drug interactions. Thus, as noted in subsequent chapters, the addition or elimination of an agent may significantly alter the activity of the concurrent drug treatment (e.g., carbamazepine lowering haloperidol plasma levels nefazodone increasing the levels of triazolam). 

Hepatic enzyme inhibition by nefazodone can significantly raise concentrations and toxicity of haloperidol (29).

Drugs that inhibit cytochrome P450 3A4 (e.g., verapamil, dUtiazem, itraconazole, fluvoxamine, nefazodone, and erythromycin) can increase buspirone levels. Rifampin caused a 10-fold reduction in buspirone levels. Buspirone reportedly increases haloperidol levels and elevates blood pressure in patients taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI). 

Fluvoxamine inhibits liver drug-metabolizing enzymes. Dosages of alprazolam, theophylline, and warfarin must be reduced if any of these drugs are given concomitantly with fluvoxamine. Nefazodone may also decrease the metabolism of benzodiazepines, and venlafaxine may inhibit haloperidol metabolism. The answer is (B). 

There are isolated cases of apparent interactions between clozapine, and ampicillin, buspirone, caffeine, haloperidol, loperamide, modafinil, nefazodone, nicotinic acid, tryptophan, or vitamin C. Grapefruit juice, influenza vaccine mirtazapine, reboxetine, or venlafaxine do not appear to interact Cocaine levels may increase when taken with clozapine. 

Nefazodone does not appear to significantly affect the pharmacokinetics of haloperidol.
