The search for new alkaloids with antimalarial activity shows some achievements. In vitro and in vivo tests from Malaysia proved that a Malaysian medicinal plant, Gynura procumbens (in Malaysia, Sambung Nyawa) from the family Astaraceae, contains alkaloids with antiplasmodial activity. The extract from this plant suppresses growth of the malarial parasites. [Pg.361]
